Plaza Premium (Terminal 2)
The Plaza Premium Lounge in Terminal 2 is one of the better lounges we’ve visited. It is located near Gate 40 and is enormous. There are multiple rooms with all kinds of different seating options ranging from restful, quiet pods in a dimly lit room to workspace tables to comfortable armchairs and couches, as well as regular dining tables. The staff was attentive and constantly clearing plates and wiping tables, keeping it spick and span.
The food options were plentiful and delicious. A chef was on call preparing four noodle soup options, including fish ball soup, a Hong Kong specialty. If these soups didn’t tickle your fancy, there was also seafood chowder and sweet yam with ginger soups nearby. Also being served was Hong Kong style rice rolls. Beside the chef, there were two other stations stocked with fresh pastries and focaccia. Other hot foods included Indian curry chicken, fried rice, sauteed mixed vegetables, dumplings and stir fried egg noodles with mixed vegetables.
If you weren’t too full from the hot food, there was a DIY sandwich bar alongside a number of snack foods including fresh fruit, cookies, nuts, Doritos and gummy candies! At the other side of the lounge at the bar, more desserts were available such as donuts and cream puffs.
The fridge was full of a variety of drinks such as a lager style stout beer (from South Korea), iced tea, water, and soy milk. Nearby was a Carlsberg beer “fill from the bottom” station alongside espresso machines, fresh juices and tea. Wine and spirits could be purchased from the bar.
The bathrooms were spotless, however, the men’s soap dispensers were all empty during our visit. Also the female washroom always had a long lineup, as there were only two stalls. Shower facilities were also available.
The wifi speeds were adequate with tests showing 10mb/s DL and 7mb/s UL. A large array of complimentary magazines were offered to guests, as well as a small business centre with a few computers.
Overall, the spacious nature of the Plaza Premium Lounge coupled with the amazing food selection makes it an excellent space to spend some time before a flight. If there was not a consistently long wait time to use the women’s washroom and if premium alcohol was available, it would improve our overall rating.
Our overall rating: 8.5/10
