Guide To Getting Your Yellow Fever Vaccine for FREE at Bogotá Airport

At home, the yellow fever vaccine can cost over $200CAD, but if you’re travelling through Bogotá El Dorado International Airport, you can get this vaccine for free!

Follow these steps:

1) Go to Departures (2nd floor) near entrance #5

2) Look for the clinic directly across the hall from the entrance door #5 (seemingly tucked away in a corner beside a money exchange counter)

3) Upon entering the clinic, take a number from the machine immediately to your left

4) Wait for your number to be called. You can see what number is currently being served on a screen

5) When your number is called, enter the second room. You will need to provide your passport and answer a few yes or no questions on a form (e.g. have you had any other vaccinations within the same month, have you had the flu recently, etc). This is all in Spanish, so if you can not speak the language, have a translator app handy.

6) You enter a third room where a nurse will administer your needle

7) You will now receive your documentation of immunization

8) Leave the clinic protected from yellow fever in 10 days!

TIPS:

1) Make sure you have not had other vaccinations within a month. Unfortunately, this happened to us. We were unable to receive our vaccine, but we returned one month later and had no problems.

2) Give yourself a lot of time. Both times we visited the clinic, we had to wait approximately one hour to receive our vaccinations.
