2. The weather in September is perfect

Although it is likely to rain on about 9 days in the month (the same as every month), the temperature stays steady in the high teens and low 20s. It is not too hot and not too cold, which makes it perfect for hiking and exploring!Easter Island Palm Trees

There are many animals roaming around Easter Island. This makes it extremely important to watch where you walk, as there is animal droppings everywhere. Also, as an island made entirely of volcanic rock, it is easy to trip on protruding rocks!Volcanic Rock Easter Island isla de pascua

7. The people are very friendly and most speak English proficiently

8. Food is expensive, so bringing a checked bag with groceries was a great idea

By our estimation, food is approximately 30% more expensive at the island’s grocery stores than those in Santiago. Also, restaurants are fairly pricey! Therefore, bringing a checked bag with groceries helped cut costs. Although we bought a few empanadas during our time on the island, our dinners were made at home and our snacks came from Santiago.

If you end up on Easter Island on a Sunday, be sure to plan ahead, as most of the businesses are closed on Sundays. Only a few souvenir shops and a small number of restaurants were open.
