Australia Airport Lounge Reviews

In the Sydney and Melbourne airports, most of the options for Priority Pass members consist of restaurants, as opposed to traditional airport lounges. At each restaurant, members are able to spend a maximum of $36 AUS ($72 with a guest).

Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport

We had a morning flight out of Terminal 2. Although there was one traditional airport lounge in that terminal (REX Lounge), we were unable to check it out because it was closed for the holiday (we flew on January 1).

MoVida (Terminal 2)

We ate breakfast at MoVida, a Spanish-themed restaurant. The menu consists of Spanish tapas as well as breakfast items, pastries, regular sandwiches and Spanish sandwiches called bocadillos. MoVida Sydney AirportI enjoyed smoked salmon and slow-cooked eggs on sourdough bread while Shaleen opted for just eggs on toast. We also both ordered flat whites. MoVida smoked salmon meal Sydney AirportThe food and coffee were great and atmosphere was quiet, due to it being early in the morning. The prices were reasonable for the $72 AUS allotment through Priority Pass for breakfast.MoVida Menu Sydney Airport

Bistro 2020 & Bar (Terminal 2)

As another restaurant option in Terminal 2, Bistro 2020 serves mostly pub food such as burgers and chicken parmigiana. There is also an all-day breakfast menu. The selection of alcoholic drinks is vast and the seating area has an excellent view of the runway. Menu at Bistro 2020 Sydney AirportI grabbed an espresso to go and it was nothing more than satisfactory. Since we had already eaten breakfast at MoVida, we didn’t order anything more than the coffee, so we cannot rate Bistro 2020.

Café Vue (Terminal 2)

Since our flight was delayed until the morning, we ate breakfast at Café Vue, one of the restaurant options available to Priority Pass members. It was also the only one that was open when we arrived at the airport.Cafe Vue Melbourne AirportThere was a wide variety of breakfast options available ranging from simple toast and jam to a full plate of eggs, bacon and potatoes. For lunch and dinner, they offer burgers, sandwiches, meat pies and salads.Cafe Vue Melbourne Airport Drinks included champagnes, wines, craft beers (draft and bottle), coffee, tea, soft drinks, juices and smoothies. They will also prepare a plane box to take with you on your flight. Not surprisingly, prices were fairly steep because everything in airports is overpriced, right? Cafe Vue Melbourne AirportMy meal consisted of smashed avocado with feta along with two poached eggs on sourdough bread. Shaleen ordered a salad with carrots and cooked broccoli. Cafe Vue Melbourne Airport MealWe also ordered long black espressos and a croissant. Coming in with fairly low expectations based on reviews online, we were both pleasantly surprised! The eggs were cooked perfectly, the flavour combinations were mouthwatering and both meals were delicious! Cafe Vue Melbourne Airport BreakfastEven the extra flakey croissants were above average! Dining at Café Vue was a great way to start our day, and a great option for Priority Pass holders. Cafe Vue Seating Melbourne AirportIf the price point was lower, I would recommend this to non-Priority Pass passengers. However, breakfast for two that costs nearly $72 AUS ($69 CAD) is pretty steep.

Plaza Premium Lounge (Terminal 2)

We arrived at the Plaza Premium lounge just as it opened at 6:00am. Obviously, it was very clean as we were the first (and only) guests there!

Melbourne Airport Plaza Premium Lounge There were great seating options available for eating, such as high café tables and restaurant-style booth seating. Conveniently, each of these booths contained their own charging ports.Melbourne Airport Plaza Premium Lounge

Melbourne Airport Plaza Premium Lounge Egg StationThe coffee bar had a barista to prepare any type of coffee (we enjoyed a latte and a flat white).Plaza Premium Lounge MelbourneI particularly enjoyed the fresh water infused with apple, cucumber and parsley. Another option with watermelon and orange juice was also available.Melbourne Airport Plaza Premium Lounge Infused WaterAnother counter contained some more snacks and fresh juice, and to my delight, there was a jar of gummy candy, or lollies, as they are known in Australia! Also nearby were a couple of children’s books to entertain the young ones.Melbourne Airport Plaza Premium Lounge LolliesThe bathrooms were shared with the neighbouring American Express Lounge. They were immaculately clean, but this is to be expected as I was likely the first one to use them that day. Wifi speeds were more than adequate at approximately 5mb/sec. I would imagine that speeds would slow down if there were more guests in the lounge.Melbourne Airport Plaza Premium LoungeOverall, the Plaza Premium lounge was one of the better lounges we’ve visited, due to its cleanliness, comfort, food and drink options and decent wifi speeds.

Nice review! With the two lounge visits, do the restaurants actually register 2 people if you’re going with a guest? Some of the places it looks like you could get by with a light brekky for 2 for under $36

Hi! Thanks for the comment. Yes, the restaurants do register two people if you bring a guest. We ate a pretty substantial breakfast each! It was great! In fact, the restaurants actually gave us more items so the bill would add up to $72!
